Who uses Job Talk?

  • Middle School and High School Special Education Students, or students that function at low levels of reading and math.
  • Adult Transition Age School Students that function at low levels of reading and math.  Job Talk has an emphasis on Career and Transition.
  • Job Talk is often used as a Pre-Requisite, or Along-Side PAES
  • For ELL “Level One Classrooms” ELL - English Language Learners Working with Students whom English is a New Language


What is Job Talk?

  • Curriculum that Teaches Essential Adult Language Work and Life Related Words to individuals that function at very low levels of reading and math.
  • Taught with Multiple Hands-On Components

Job Talk Program Features:

  • A Unique Approach to Reading and Learning for Individuals or Group
  • Teaches Essentials and Communication Skills for Everyday Life
  • Teaches by Students Hearing and/or Seeing Key Words and Real Images within the Context of the Real World
  • Age appropriate – no Cartoons or Characters– All Images are Real Photographs
  • Many of the Students that will Benefit from Job Talk are not going to Read Books, let alone Text Books. They are, however, going to Encounter the Written and Spoken Word in Everyday Life, Employment and Leisure.

  • Are used one on one or with small groups for teaching new words and concepts

 

3)    Magnetic Boards

  • Unique high interest training techniques for helping students learn technical terms and identify technical items

  • Designed for low functioning individuals to identify the important items in their community and work


5)    Word Searches

  • Three Levels – Basic, Intermediate, Advanced
  • Help Develop Letter and Word Discrimination


6)    Word Scrambles

  • Three Levels – Basic, Intermediate, Advanced
  • Helps Develop Vocabulary and Thinking Skills


7)    Word Comprehension Discovery Words

  • Introduces word comprehension for basic adult life words
